hi banty, you can stop crushing the chick crumb when the quails are about 3 to 4 weeks old or do what i do, do a part mix crushed and normal and just keep an eye out to see if they are eating the mix they will forage to get the smaller bits, as for weaning i dont, I keep them on chick crumbs all the time, but with daily greens like chopped up lettuce they adore lettuce, i also give them cuttle fish bone tied about 6 inches from the ground inside their shed, going back to the chick crumbs you can allways try a mixture of chick crumbs and canary seed and loose millet, or you can go the whole hog and buy ready mixed quail food from haiths seeds £18.60 per 25 kg + £1.99 delivery their number is 0800 298 7054 or the web site addy is www.haiths.com but like i said earlier i keep mine on the chick crumbs all the time and they look really fit & well on it, hope this is of help to you , cheers Steve.

Hi banty, Glad the info was usefull for you, thats how i started with just 2 they grew on me that much, now 4 sheds later 12ft x 8ft, 3 incubators, 3 broody lamps lol ;D , and a stock of 150 quail, so just think in about 6 to 8 weeks time you will be getting your own eggs thats if they are hens of course, anyway all the best with your "new babys" cheers Steve.
