Help duckmad, snowball.... anyone, talli our female duck (12 weeks old) is actiing like a guard dog and quacks very loudy everytime ANYTHING moves in the garden. Paul mentioned the other day that if she carries on like this she might have to go as we have close neighbours..... no one as yet has complained, one neighbour even found it funny, but i can foresee a few problems during the summer months if she caries on. She doesnt seem to be asking for food as food is always there, she always near the others so its not a 'help im alone quack'. Could it be because 2weeks ago we introduced 2 other 6 week old females (1 duck & 1 goose), anyway, she's my little pet, and i would be heart broken if she had to go ..... thou i do have to admit she is rather loud....... any suggestions greatly appreciated ..... mandy

Hi Littlefeathers
sorry to hear she is being a little noisy, fingers crossed the neighbours dont mind. I dont know why she should suddenly become noisy, maybe she is just marking her territory or possibly the hormones are starting to flow early!
I hope you dont have to rehome her, but you know where we are if needed!
We went to an auction in Wales today and came home with some welsh harlequin ducklings (2 weeks old) and some warrens for Ash (hope they got home ok Ash)

hi mandy dont know what the problem is unless its hormones as suggested. all ours quack when walking round the garden but we dont notice it, especially when rattled. hope she sorts herself out but i dont think it will be anything to do with the new additions unless she is worried about them and has taken to looking after them. duckmad

Thanks everyone for the replies, paul and i are keeping an eye on her to see if we can spot the causes behind her loud voice. Maybe she just thinks 'she's the daddy' and is letting everyone else know lol. Anyway, as always its nice to know advice is always here. Yeah Snowball....... where was the sale? not that im allowed anymore pets
