Hi everyone, My 6 week old call duckling had a bit of an accident yesterday (fell down the steps in the garden) and is now unable to walk and when she does manage to stand up she wobbles. She eats and drinks normally and swims a little bit, when swimming she goes around in a circle. Do you think she may have just bruised/ sprained her leg? I'm very fond of this duckling as i hand reared her and she is the only call duckling i managed to hatch this year. I don't want to have to put her down.

Sorry to hear about your duck jayjay , i no how you feel, i'd be worried if anything happened to our 3 ducks we hatched and hand reared this year. The only thing i can suggest is what a doctor would suggest for us, try to rest her as much as possible and then incourage her to go for little swim's, its probably one of the best forms of exercise for us when we've got poorly limbs. good luck mandy

Thanks for your advice Over the weekend i've been giving her little swims and taking her for short walks. Her walking has imporved over the last 2 days but shes unable to flap her right wing and when she trys she falls over. Shes alot brighter and very noisy. I think she may have bruised/sprained her leg when she fell. Hopefully she'll regain the use of her wing. JayJay
