hi for scaly leg a good treatment is a dilute solution of jeyes fluid or dettol and dip the infected legs in twice a day and it should clear up fairly quickly, dont make the solution to strong or it will burn, about 20 parts water to 1 part disinfectant

I've used Benzyl Benzoate (you get it from the chemist - not expensive). Just paint it onto their legs with a soft brush daily for about 10 days. It dries quickly. Don't pick off the old scales or you will make the legs bleed - wait for them to drop off naturally (it might take several months). It's worked for me.

Well apparently I'm not allowed to say this but what the heck. Not advocating or diagnosing anything of course, simply saying what I do on my own birds. Firstly, if they don't have scaley leg, don't treat them for it. Secondly, I have found the easiest, cheapest and best thing to use is frontline flea treatment. It is licenced for cats and dogs and I have cats and dogs so always have the stuff here. I operate single handedly so anything I do must be doable by one person and with little or no stress. I pick up each bird, and do one squirt of frontline per leg and put the bird down. It is as easy as that. No dab dab dabbibg, no holding a struggling bird with one hand, holding a leg with another hand, hold the bottle with another...oh hang on, we only have 2 hands. I would never use jeyes fluid because I have a feeling it is toxic and sure that it burns. I would not uase on my birds, anything I wasn't prepared to put on my own skin and jeyes fluid says avoid getting on skin. It is good for drains though Benzyl benzoate is good but again, one hand holds the chicken, one holds the leg out, oops, no more hands hehe. Also with frontline, only one application is needed. No daily painting, or soaking or dabbing. But as I said. I'm not advocating you use it, nor diagnosing anything I am merely saying what I have found to be safe, easy and very very effective. HTH

when i had scaley leg well not me personaly my chicken i used the benz /benz and i managed to do it by myself i just stood the chicken on a towel on my patio table and painted it on with a makeup brush i can understand that not all chickens will just stand there and let you do this i also know that an oil like olive oil ect will also work by suffercating the mites you may not see an improvement as the scales wont drop off untill the chicken moults and the nice new scales grow
