What are you going to keep? chickens or livestock, probably cheapest option is sheep netting which you will get from an agricultural merchant but shop around prices vary and wood yards are usually cheapest for posts good luck G

hi ash if you are after sheep netting, go to your agricultural merchant. It should be anywhere from £38 to £46 depending on quality for a 100mtr roll. The best is called Tornado, it will pull up lovely and straight and tight and stay like that for years. If you are after chicken type wire you need to shop around and see what you can get. We found the best was the one with 3 wires running through it. We pulled straight wire for a frame and then fixed the chicken wire to it using very small cable ties, this meant that we could keep the chicken wire tight by fastening it at the top and then stretching it down to the wire at the bottom. Any timber merchant will have posts you need to be looking at 3-4" round and bigger ones for the corner. The 3-4" rounds will cost about £1 each, dont forget the dreaded vat which everything has on it. Dont be afraid to argue about the prices though, if you are buying alot some places will give you a discount. You may get the posts from your agricultural merchant but watch the price as they tend to be a bit deared than the timber merchant Hope this helps duckmad

hi ash electric fencing is ok if you are nearby, the only trouble is if its off mains it can give a nasty kick, and if its off a battery the units are very easy to nick. the other problem with either is that if something falls on the wire it can short it out without you knowing, we looked into it for the pigs and as they are away from the house we decided against it for the above reasons and also the cost duckmad
