I have a broody hen and she has been sitting on our fertile eggs we bought , for as long as she is supposed to. She got up today and wouldn't go back in her nest, we finally put her back on the eggs but the eggs weren't as warm as they were, they were cooler. Could this result in the chicks dying or will they be ok?

hiya silkiehen , it will depend on how long she was off the nest , do you know how long she was away ? if it was only half an hour or so they should all be ok , have you thought about candleing them.

We dont know how long she was off the nest for. We got down to the chicken run and she was trying to escape out of her caged nest box. its 24 days now.

hiya , it isnt looking good , although it has been known for eggs to get to 25 days before hatching , if at all possible i would candle them .
