5 of my Silkies have gone broody so my eggs have gone down by half, I have the mother and chicks in sight of the others and I am wondering if this is making things worse, I keep getting them out of the hut and shutting the pop hole the last 2 days all they have done is stand on the ramp sulking, looks as though I am going to have to put them in a cage to cool them down only ever had to do this once before and that was years ago seems a bit cruel, weather a bit too wet at the mo as Silkies are not waterproof ,do you guys think it would work as well if I put them in the garage I could leave the door open, any suggestions G

Hiya GillyC , the cage you mentioned is what i would have suggessted , i know it looks and sounds cruel but it is an effective way to stop them being broody . I cant think of any other way than to make there life a litle less comfy for the time being , either that or you put up with no eggs and broody silkies for around 3-6 weeks , sorry i cant be of more help , and maybe someone else may have a better solution .
