here here, i agree, the subjects are well chosen, well laid out and seem to cover all aspects of chickens, ducks, geese etc. Im looking forward to making new friends, gaining new knowledge and (when she's ready) looking forward to adding some new chooks to our family. Its a great site ...... i like it just a quick after thought, my fiance and i love going to exhibitions, (sorry about my spelling) shows, events, etc, maybe members could list or advertise if they know of any shows going on. I've never been to a show and seen a range of breeds of chickens, ducks etc. The shows could either concentrate on our little friends, general animals, or general family days out. The only two shows I know are Horse one's Does anyone know if theres ever any Poultry shows in the South West area, Bristol area preferably.

A lot of people on the forums come from different parts of the world.. me for instance.. I come from Australia
But I am sure if you posted a subject every now and again saying where you are from and does any one know of a show happening around or near you.. and if people are from that area they will respond to you
Certainly worth a try

Hi littlefeathers, on reading your question about shows near yourself i have just had a look in the march 2005 issue of "country smallholding" magazine and in there it gives you the complete 2005 show guide the magazine costs £3 and you can send for back issues at this price inc. p&p thier website is www.countrysmallholding.com on this website it gives the details of thier address etc. and phone numbers, to subscribe to this mag cost £30 for a year saving £6 and if you subscribe for 2 years its £54 ive been subscribibg to this magazine now for a few years and i find it very informative & helpfull and there is a section on a breeders list, anyway i hope this gives you some help cheers steve

My hubby got me a "subscription" to Country Smallholding for Chirstmas. Leastways he went to the newsagent and ordered it. So I go in each month and erm...pay for it. Seems I dipped out somewhere.

I think country smallholder is a brilliant magazine and has a really useful breeders directory at the back too. Not like that other publication which publishes some breeders one month, then a few more the next month. I get it every month.
