Hiya all , whats everyones situation now with hatching eggs , i stopped hatching about 5 weeks ago mainly due some of my chooks moulting and also to give the girls a rest from being jumped on by all them randy roosters lol . Saying that 2 of my girls have thought its not a good idea to stop hatching just yet as they have gone broody lol .

It's funny you have just read up on the Norfolk Greys Ash as i did the same today..Interesting to find out they were declared extinct in 1970 but in 1974 a quartet was found in a private flock so all the Norfolk Greys of today decend from these 4 birds.. Regarding some thing special to hatch why not try out some Gold laced or Jubilee Orpingtons?.I am trying to get hatching eggs but they are either a stupid price or like hens teeth to find.

Hiya Admin , wow you read it today as well , lol small world . Iv got 1 goldlaced orp at the mo , from a bad hatch 5 weeks ago , bought 6 on e-bay and only 2 hatched one couldnt even stand up i tried everything to help it but nothing worked in the end my other half put the chick out of its misery im to soft i cant do anything like that . I'll end up with old aged pensioner chooks lol . Jubilees had thought about it but there so expensive and one has no way of knowing if they will hatch or not . I have a pic of my one and only gold laced orp will post a piccy tommorrow . Ash

Sorry to hear about your Orp ..It is really frustrating when you have a bad hatch.. I know what you are saying regarding the Jubilees, prices are just going trough the roof for eggs on Ebay, there has got to be alot of dissapointed people out there who have paid high prices for eggs and have got nothing.. Look forward to your piccys anyway

Not hatching untill I can see where were going on AI. I couldn't sell my surplus birds last autumn due to the sales closing down and have carried 130 birds over winter who are now laying bucketfulls of eggs which I'm selling for eating. I need to reduce my stocks, as I will be unable to house them all indoor/under cover if the worse happens.
