 Ey up all, from lincs
« Result #6 on Apr 22, 2009, 10:25pm »

I'm originally from Nottm so I'd normally say "ey up duck".
I live in sunny Sutton Bridge and am the Lincs co ordinator for Little Hen rescue.
I also have my own ex batts and Pekin Bantam family.
I give sanctuary to unwanted guinea pigs and have many other animals and birds too.....and a very tolerant Hubby and 5 lovely kids aged between 6 and 14.
I found this site whilst looking on Google for info on a particular incubator but my 2 pekin hens are currently broody and sitting on 15 eggs between them.
My current chicks are 4 weeks old and can be seen here > http://www.photobucket.com/chookles

Hope to chat soon, althought I'm not online THAT often.

Lyn

HELP, Why arent my hens laying???
« Result #13 on Jun 11, 2007, 10:18pm »

I have got 1 cockerel, and about 20 red hens and a number of other hens all in a large 10x10 metre run, 10 of the hens are ex battery hens which i got about 1 month ago. For some reason i am only getting 4-6 eggs a day from all these birds, and as far as i know, none from the battery hens. My battery hens hve got nearly all the feathers back now, (when i first got them some were neraly bald, poor girls.)
Does anybody know why????????????????

 hello all u chuck lovers!!
« Result #14 on Jun 11, 2007, 10:08pm »

Hi, i am from Lincolnshire and a great chicken lover and have about 40 ish birds!!
I have got a large light sussex cockerel and 3 light sussex hens, a few mixed bantums and about 20 red hens, 10 of which i rescued from a battery farm, (poor things, they were nearly featherless!)
All these birds have a quite a large area to scratt and worm etc (about 10x10 metres!) My whole garden is about 3/4 acre in total.
I am also just starting to try and breed Pekins, Patrick (my cockerel) is a mottled pekin and he lives with Patricia (another mottled pekin) Lucy (a lavender pekin) and CJ (a black pekin!!) and i have got 12 Lavender and mottled chicks of varying ages between 3 and 6 wks old.
I am looking forward to hearing from all u other chicken lovers!!
